What a great feeling it was, when the power company's cavalry arrived right around dinnertime! This was possibly the best moment in a long time!!! We got the boys dressed in jackets and hats, and went outside to watch the big trucks, and a man climbing the pole.
Today was also the boys' first day at Parent's Day out, and they enjoyed it very much, and our friend Kimberly, who runs the daycare and pre-school made sure they were well taken care of.
But anyway, I was thinking today, that maybe what would be a good idea is that if we all got together maybe for a long weekend once or twice this year, to finalize the program, start working on practicing the songs (get familiar with it). I know how it is to try practice without having an idea first. So, I was looking in the calendar, and of course we have several option, if you want to consider it. We have Easter weekend, we have Memorial Day, Independence Day (falls on Friday this year), and Labor Day. I wouldn't mind, if we had one of the get togethers at our house. But it's up to you all, what you want to do.
I have a song suggestion, if you don't mind. It's "Your Grace Still Amazes Me" by Phillips, Craig and Dean, and we could actually use a soundtrack for that, because the whole song doesn't have any drums (which I assume, that's what you all want). (If you want to look it up, it's from 2001 CD Let My Words Be Few.... At one time I started writing Czech words for it, maybe it would be worth finishing...

hello
We will pray that God is going to keep you all safe where the weather is bad. We are having very beautiful day today. We had lots of rain yesterday but today is just perfect so I will remember all of you in snow and in wind when I will be tempted to complain.
I have been thinking about the program.
I like the idea that Ika brought about the mini videos of each of us. The only thing I would suggest that they would be not 5 min but about 2 min mini videos. While each family is presenting their video each family can have a song. So each family presentation will be no more than 5 min. That is already 30 min. Than we should have maybe 4 or 5 songs for the siblings which we can sing in Czech if we want to. That will be another 20 min. We can have couple of songs with all of us in English. So that is already one hour and than we need to think of time in between the songs time for speaking and you have an hour and half.
Well, what do you all think, don't be shy let us know so we can come to some kind of finished product. I think it is very important to keep this whole planing in Gods hands. I desire that this program would be not just to make our mom happy but all would be blessed. I would like our friends to see that we live in God and having joy and satisfaction from Him. That they would be encouraged and empowered into greater walk with God.
ok looking forward to hear from you all

Weather
Ika,
Our best wishes to you and your family as you go through this time! How terrible! How serious!
Here near Lansing, MI, we still have power, but the winds have been incredible! I've been concerned that the windows would break from the wind, and I keep watching the storm warnings to see if we should go in the basement. We dropped 40 degrees last evening! Kamil was heading home from Andrews Univ (2 1/2 hrs) and said the roads were very dangerous (ice and wind) and he thankfully finally decided to get off the road and spend the night in Kalamazoo (1/2 way home). It's still very windy, but apparently the storm warning ends in one hour and starts again tonight through Friday night, in which we should get 6 inches of snow.
May God be very near right now during your power outage! That is INDEED serious!
Annette

Darkness
In case you can't tell, the room in the picture is suppose to be in complete darkness, well, except for the candle light.
Yesterday, along with about 30,000 people in the city of Memphis, we were victims of crazy windy weather. As I was looking at the disaster in our backyard, I felt a strong wind building up more and more. I was frozen to my spot for a second, because I wasn't really sure if it wasn't a tornado (as we were under a tornado watch). I watched the things on the ground lift of slightly, and spin out of control. No, it wasn't tornado, but that's how strong the wind was. Then I heard a snap, and all three lines coming to our house were torn off (power, cable and phone). I moved to the front of the house, to look outside, and saw all the neighbors standing at their front door, trying to see what's going on, there were tree branches falling off the big trees and breaking in half as they hit the ground. We all just kind of got together for a minute to check if everyone was OK, and if anybody needed any kind of help.
Memphis roads were in major chaos, as some of the bussiest streets lost their power to the traffic lights during the rush hour. You'd hear police sirens from all the sides... Very weird atmosphere.
And there we were, in our house, that was getting darker by the minute, waiting for Johnny to get home with the generator, with nothing to do. All of a sudden you realize how much you depend on modern conveniences. Ezra & Levi were crying, confused, and scared, confined to dining room, where we lit all the candles, and where they couldn't trip over something and hurt themselves.... It was also the only place where I could put the candles high enough where they couldn't reach them.
This morning we are still without power, but thanks to grandma we had wonderful warm muffins for breakfast, and we're hoping that it won't be more than another 12 hours before our power will be restored. But we'll see....

KL vs V and other issues
When I was stuck in Czech for over a year, I was able to get to know the Komorni Lhotka better. The sound system is pretty good. What makes better sound system in Vojkovice than in KL is the Sosna's equipment, and they don't use it all the time in the church, so if it came down to it, we could ask Tomas if we could borrow it. Otherwise I don't think that there is much difference, that was just my recent observation when I was there.
I still think, knowing our mom that it would make a huge difference to her, and since we want it all about her, I think that it is a good thing that we are considering her feelings, most of her friends are from KL, and I think she is really proud of that church, she loves that church more than anything else. I remember her mentioning something to me, there was a program in KL for another older auntie on her anniversary, and she said that she would be so happy if her children would do a program like that for her in KL.
As far as the size, how many people are we expecting. I think KL can fit 150-200 people and they have nice rooms in the building which could be used for children etc. Vojkovice is a little bit larger, but not too much (you can always open that side room in KL and people can still see. Well, that's just another thought about that....
So if we expect large crowds, then even Vojkovice might not be large enough.
As far as Czech songs, we siblings know Czech, and I was thinking of Rene, he is very talented writer, he has written Czech words for many songs, don't you guys remember ( I remember Ika and Zuzu did some too), and so why don't we do that with some of the songs.
I would like to see though what is your idea, I am still not gathering what kind of program exactly do we want, do we sing songs as one family, or do we do things individually, I think that we should do some siblings songs, (that doesn't mean that others would not be involved), but I think it would be neat if we could do couple that way, you know we are from the same breed, and so our voices match in very nice way, and I really miss singing with you all.
Anyways, that's just few ideas

My opinion
Wow, I can't keep up with you ladies!!!
Here is what I think, but again, this is just an opinion, and maybe it will help in developing the final product.
In the morning, as far as I remember, the churches will have all of their classes filled with either childrens' or adult groups. We might be better off doing an early Sabbath school at our mom's house, that way we can have kids' lesson in English and also an adult Bible study in English. But that's something we can still find out and work on, maybe the church would be willing to set aside a room for that one Sabbath, but then we would probably need a place for adult English lesson too, wouldn't we? So, in my opinion our best bet would be to do Sabbath school at our house, early enough so that we have that little extra time for transportation to the church.
As far as the evening, I am 100% positive, the small children won't be able to sit through the program. I think the older kids should be able to. After all, hopefully the program will be interesting to them, and it won't be as long as a whole church service. So, that would leave Rebekah, Ezra, Levi & new baby. What I was working on is to find out, if Marek and Irma would be back from their mission trip by then. Irma speaks fluently English, and is very good with children. I am almost 100% positive she would be willing to watch the children, with Vladka's help (that's Marek's sister), that way Annette could be a part of the program, and focus on her baby. Then, when their time for participation comes, we could have the small children come back in.
Then, Kamil brought something up about songs in Czech? Come on! He doesn't speak Czech anymore anyway!!! Just kidding. Aah, that's a tough one, I think it would take Johnny more than 10 months to learn those Czech songs. If it was up to me, I would do a slide show with the words translated in Czech, with some pretty nature pictures as a background.
As far as church choice, I'd rather do it in Vojkovice church, just because it's bigger, and the sound system is a lot better there, plus they have more microphones. The thing is, the program is not entirely for our mom, yes, we are flying there for her, and from what i remember, we are doing a Birthday party/ dinner for her, but the program is not only for her, but also for our friends and church members. Otherwise, if it was just for our mom, we could do it in our living room. And most of you are (or were) members at Vojkovice church. Plus, there is no problem for people in Komorni Lhotka to drive to Vojkovice. It's just a matter of maybe 3 miles difference. Not to mention that the parking situation is little better in Vojkovice...
Anyway, so this is what I think about it. Thank you Annette for offering your talent, and I couldn't imagine a better person for this task! (We will still need you to organize the morning kids' class, but for the evening I'd like to see you be able to enjoy the program with all the rest of us)

Program with all family members & Czech music
I think it would be great to have the children part of a portion of it, or sit through all of it, I just need to know what everyone thinks is best. I would feel bad not being able to see the program (maybe I can see the first bit), but yet I know that I will no doubt have to step out for a bit of it if it gets to be too long for Rebekah and whatever I need to do for little one.
Kamil also mentioned recently that he thought that everyone is probably thinking that we'll sing mostly English songs, but he thinks the church would appreciate mostly Czech songs. For English songs, they can smile and listen, but they don't understand what is being sung (though they may know some of the tunes). I'm not sure what is being organized, but I'm sure that will be discussed.

hello
this would be very helpful to organize activities and toys for the children for sabbath. thank you Anetka. Of course having a new baby you will need help. About the program. I would like to see the children and our spouses be part of the program. We need to talk more about the whole program but at least I think we should have couple of songs with everybody.
what do you think?
Does anybody know what is the difference in size between KL and Voj.?

Kids program @ Church
Sorry I have to write so many times! Another thought. If we have a program for the kids in a Sabbath School classroom somewhere in the church of our choice, the children of the church might want to join (which they would be welcome to do). Would anyone from the church be offended by our having organized our own program? What does the church usually do for children during long programs (if children can't sit still the whole time?)? I would want the church to be comfortable and know what we're up to (since I can't tell them myself!).
Please advise,
Annette

Church
One other thought about the church that Kamil brought up last night is that, your mom feels a greater kinship with the Komorni Lhotka Church, but in some ways he sees the Vojkovice church as being a more ideal setting for a large crowd, etc. Just a thought as you all decide which church you feel the program should be conducted in.
Maybe Rene would have an opinion for us based upon the sound system options (not sure if that would make a difference).

Annette-kids program/babysitting
Hi! I was thinking about what I can offer. I thought that I could bring Sabbath toys/activities for the children to enjoy for Sabbath so that everyone is busy and not "bored"--yet still thinking about Bible/nature themes on the Sabbath. These would be things that could be enjoyed Fri pm and Sabbath when we are visiting at you mom's house (I have quite a "Sabbath stash" collected already, but could choose some more things for the older kids).
I was thinking that the kids would enjoy being in a kids room in the back at the church, also, when you do the program in the evening, but I don't know. Kamil says that you'll want the kids to stay in the church for the whole program, but knowing kids, that would be tough. Plus, if you are singing up in front, who will watch the kids? I could do that and bring activities (Czech Sabbath Schools, from my 2-3 Sabbath experiences, don't seem to have much for young children to do). But again, I would need help. No doubt some teen-agers from church or other ladies would love to pop in and help (and whoever from the family that is not singing, but for Chelsea, Isaac, and Rebekah, and English speaking helper might be needed). But a helper would be a must, though I can plan to bring all the materials ahead of time.
Let me know what you think about the above and what suggestions you have regarding materials. You probably saw Rebekah's Sabbath Bag from when we were together.
Love,
Annette

hello
Hello family,
I think what we will need is this. We will need people in charge of different things. For example we will need to have somebody in charge of evening program 29th. than we will need somebody in charge of the food after the program. Than we need somebody to take care of getting all the sound system and all the connection with the technical support. Than we need somebody in charge of daily program and scheduling interesting and fun things to do. Somebody should make sure like zigi said that the worship is organized.I am sure each of you know what your strength is and it would be great to let all of us know what you would like to take care of. I am sure Rene has better connection to people with all the technical stuff than rest of us, I am pretty sure Ika has more musical understanding than rest of us(sorry evi you are still the best singer:). I would like to make sure that all the food is organized for the evening program .
Ika that is a good idea about the count. This way we will have a better picture about everything.
Kozi I do not think anybody is buying tickets just yet so lets see.
I am glad we will have the chance to meet evkas special friend too.
Andrew is home so need to run give him some food
love you all

Team Captain
I would like to nominate Zuzka for a team captain. She's been making sure that everyone is on this blog, and did a very good job in keeping up with everybody's plans. Also, she will be the first one to arrive and last one to leave. I think most people are comfortable in telling her what they feel they could contribute with during the trip...

Captain Idea
As I read the blog, it is really great that everyone is able to share their thoughts regarding what will work for each of their families and what they are thinking about. However, at some point it seems to me that we would need a " trip captain" (Zuzka or Ika?) that would just reiterate what we seem to agree on so that we are all on the same page and it is officially stated. That way everyone could see what is officially being decided, and if they want to throw in another thought before it's TOTALLY official, they would have that opportunity. What do you think?
Also, I'm surprised Kamil didn't mention the thing about the churches when he wrote today, but he told me the other night that he thinks that his mom would prefer (and feel more comfortable with) the program being in Komorni Lhotka. While Kamil seems to feel closer to and have more friends in Vojkovice (sp?), KL is the church she likes.
Feeling sickish (because of Baby X),

Hello everyone,
I was finally able to check this out, and I am really excited about going to Czech, tomorrow we have a staff meeting, and so I am going to put in my vacation time for then.
Also Casey would like to come too, because he has not been in Czech, and he really would like to visit that place. (He doesn't know about this blog, he has been hearing this just from me talking to him about the possibility of going to Czech).
We would probably then fly in for a week, leave thu or Fri before Thanksgiving and come back on the Sunday after or Monday, I am not very sure yet, but that's when he has break at school.
Anyways, as far as churches, I personally think that mom would prefer Komorni Lhotka, at least from what I know about her, but I might be wrong, I would do it just in case, we don't want any hard feelings about it.
Are we going to do a musical concert, or each family something different?
Anyways. I need to go now

Sabbath and which day to fly on.
Hey I can't keep up with all of you! I'm working, you know? I think that the second Sabbath is better too, since I believe that flying on the thanksgiving day will be the cheapest days to fly during that time. The prices aren't adjusted yet, but during the summer you'll start seeing the difference. So, don't buy your tickets yet, airlines will be coming with different specials for the fall.
Sabbath program: 1. Something about our mom. 2. Something about our families individually and corporately. 3. Something with our old friends.
Sorry, need to get back to work.

I also agree on the 29th. We would love to spend the weekend of 22nd in Prague, and it sounds like most people won't be there yet anyway. Plus, it will give us some time to get the program together...
I guess I can tell you now, what my idea was for the evening program at church. It's more like a suggestion, and maybe you'll like it enough to incorporate it into the program. How many of you love to hear about how people in Czech are doing, how their lives are, who got married, who has kids, where do they live, etc. Well, I have a feeling some of the people are curious about us too. So, I thought what we could do is, everyone could make a short home video about where you live, where you work, maybe your typical day in a short 5 minute videoclip. Then, each family could do a little something - special music. Either sing, or instrumental. Zuzka and I got inspired, when we saw pictures from musical afternoon they did in Vojkovice church, and it looks like different families did special song. And I can tell you, what impressed me the most, that even those families, who don't have the greatest singing talents got up there, and did their thing from the bottom of their heart. I thought that was great! And then, of course we could do song(s) together.
OK, Ezra & Levi just woke up from their nap, so I have to go get them. They are enjoying their last week of being one... We went today to a church playdate, and they were having so much fun!!! This week they are starting to go to Christian daycare, 3 times a week from 9 to 2:30, which will allow me to help Johnny with office work....
talk to you all later!

Welcome
Welcome Zigi and Rachel,
it is so great to see you all interested in this project. Thank you all for all the comments and ideas.
So since we know that Zigi, Rachel and Rene are going to stay only for few days let us decide which sabbath we will do the program. I think it should be the 22th or 29th. What do you all think?
It looks like Ika and her family and myself and my family will be there both weekends. I would like to hear from Evka to see how long she will be able to stay. I think it would be maybe good to do it on th 29th so we have time to get it ready.

The Trip
Hello everyone,
We are excited about going and surprising our mom during the Thanksgiving trip. We are most likely going to stay for about 3-5 days. We need to come up with day to day activities, so that not only the children are occupied but so us adults don't get bored either.
Ika mentioned that this trip should be all about our mom. We agree and also know that we will want to visit many of our friends. We may have to come up with the cooking schedule and "quality time" schedule for our mom so she does indeed feel we are there primarily for her.
Board games, singing and walking down "memory lane" can fill our time at home with our mom right there with us. This is a bit early but we should also schedule worship times and probably special musics for the church, since that is what our mom will strongly request :)
It's a little crazy in our house, but should ease-up in a couple of weeks. Please pray for us.
We love you all,
Zigi and Rachel

hello
I talked to Zigi today and he said he is not using the email address that I sent him the information about this blog. So I just emailed him the information again so now he should have it.
By the way Miloslav Dumka was playing some music at my work today and sharing his testimony and how he escaped from Czech. It was very interesting.
I have a question. Do you all think our mom will care which church we will use to have the program at?

Re: Gift
That's a good idea (doing the portrait). That's pretty much what we're doing for the Bennetts' 40th wedding anniversary - a family portrait.
We could either go in Czech to a photo studio, or I know a couple of people over there, who have a very good camera (I know you all know people like that too), and it wouldn't cost us as much as professional photographer... But we can research both, and go from there.

Gift
When I read the question of a gift to Kamil, he was thinking that that Portrait that someone had brought up could be the gift. It's true, though, it will be pricey going out there.

Bennetts plans
Hi everyone,
So, Johnny and I have decided we're going to fly to Czech on Friday November 21, 2008, and stay through Monday December 1, 2008. One of the weekends we will spend in Prague, since Johnny's never been there. Once we finalize the events as far as stuff for our mom, we'll decide which weekend of those two.
Also, we've decided we're going to be staying at Hotel Silesia (http://www.hotelsilesia.cz/) located on Frydek town square. It's little more expensive (about $100 per night for a double room), but I'm hoping we can negotiage the price a little. After all, it is a vacation we are not able to take so often, so we're trying to stay in a nice place. And as I've mentioned before, the healthfood store is located on that same town square, which makes it so much more convenient for us (some of you know the boys are allergic to milk products, so we'll be shopping there a lot)... But who knows, we may still find something better for cheaper...
So, that's all for now...
Love,
Ika

Tickets
Hi,
I checked on prices for the plane tickets with our "preferred" airline, and there is no difference in the price, it only goes higher during the weekend, and then the price difference is about $30. The ticket from Memphis to Prague with 1 stop is 778 after taxes and everything. Maybe you could share with everyone, where you can get a good deal on tickets. We'll be probably flying using our miles (otherwise I'm not sure we could afford it), so as long as we fit under 800 we're OK, but maybe other people, who need to pay cash will appreciate the information, where to buy cheap tickets.
Also, if you're looking into car rentals, keep in mind, that if you do fly to Germany, and rent there, you need to make sure the rental company will let you take it to Czech. I know that when we tried to rent last year, not all of them did. Also, I just checked the prices for car rental in PRG, and it was only $30 more than renting for the same amount of time from Frankfurt.
Talk to you all soon!

hello,
do not have much time because I just got home from work. Thank you Ika for getting all this information.
I was just thinking about present for our mom. I think that main gift for her is going to be us being there. Some of us will have to pay for the tickets and car and much more so I am already thinking it will cost us about $3,500. So I am not really thinking of spending too much on the gift. I know I will want to give her something but it is not going to be anything big. What do you all think?
keep bringing all your ideas.
Happy Sabbath

Flying Thanksgiving Day
Just so that EVERYONE knows, Kamil was talking to Rene & Zuzka, I believe, about the idea of flying out Thanksgiving day, because he believes we'll save quite a bit on air fare and get a good rate.
What do the rest of you think about that?
What do the rest of you think about that?
Hotels and more
Hi Everyone,
one thing that we thought about is that Mom would be aware of only one family coming to visit, so that she wouldn't be completely in the dark, and she would have the opportunity to properly prepare her house (some of us may relate; I hate surprise visits...) So, we should decide, who our mom will know about their coming. Possibly those, who will be staying at her house.
To certain degree we'll have to let some people know, because in order to have any type of event done in the church, it has to go through the church leadership, so it can be planned, and there must be announcements made at both churches at least 1 week in advance, so that people could make plans to come. So, I guess the question will be, of how many people will mom know, that way, she'll have something to look forward to, and still be surprised when her Birthday comes.
As far as her Birthday present, where do you all stand? Does anyone have any ideas for what to get for her, or are we doing just cash, just like we did for our dad?
OK, I did little research on the internet for the lodging, and here is what I found:
1. Hotel Nosovice - newly renovated (don't expect it to be anywhere near looking luxurious, it's simple). It has bath+toilette in the room, there is a fully equipped kitchenette on the floor, but not in the room
Cost: $32.00/night
2. Hotel & Caffe Silesia - town square in Frydek, near the castle, and 1 min. walking distance to Vega (healthfood store)
Cost: $33 - $64 /night
(also, it is walking distance from Kaufland, also a great bakery is just around the corner, and if anything should happen, there is a hospital about 3 minutes by car from there; by the way, for those of you who don't know, emergency room visit cost us approx. $9 the last time we had to go, that's just basic, with no further labs, I'm not sure how much more would everything else be, but it's very inexpensive.)
3. Hotel Centrum
Big, 3 star hotel in Frydek-Mistek, near main train station,
Cost: standard room - $90 (breakfast included)
extra bed (cot) - $19
economy room - $68
parking - $6 (not sure if it's per day or per stay, but judging by our last trip it's possibly per day)
4. Hotel Terasa
located on lake Olesna, 4 star hotel, pretty nice for Czech
Cost: $82/night
- free parking, wellness center (excercise room), sauna, whirlpool, steam room w/ aromatherapy...
So, this is what I've got so far. From the pictures I'm the most impressed with Hotel Terasa, but it's pretty pricey, so we'll have to see if we can get some kind of discount for extended stay, or just stay somewhere else. But honestly, those cheaper hotels and motels are just not that great...

To clarify
About the surprise, so basically we all show up at the restaurant Tuesday pm and that is the first that your mom knows we're all there? I just want to clarify that. Secondly, the only planned events are Tuesday pm and Sabbath. Is that correct? Aside from hanging out together through the week, sporadically?
Another thing to clarify, the Sabbath event refers to the Sabbath AFTER your mom's birthday, right?
Kamil & I are thinking of staying somewhere else, for some of the same reasons that Ika shared. We think it would be better with a newborn.
Regarding how many could stay at your old home, Kamil and I think it looks like there are 3 rooms available upstairs (if Renata's upstairs living room becomes available for guests, otherwise just two), and downstairs one room (either Pepik's old room or your Mom's, depending on what would be more comfortable for your mom).

Hey,
does anyone have a picture from this past weekend, where I don't look so fat??? :-( LOL Can you send some to me, I'd like to have it made in time for our immigration interview (it always helps to show pictures from family events...) And wow, that's a lot of kids there!!! Looks great! Everyone looks great!

Hello
this is really great. I do think that that we should plan the trip on exact time of our moms birthday. If we do it one month latter it will not be the same for her. Plus, there is a short break during Thanksgiving time so I am sure if people are willing we can all put this together. I do want to say that it would be great if all of us could be there with our spouses and children but of course we do understand if it is impossible. We all can keep it in our prayers. I know this will mean a lot to our mom. I would like to hear a thought from every single unit of our family. It would be great to hear from Zigi or Rachel and Eva. If you do not have much time you do not have to write much but please let us know where your thoughts are on all this.
The great thing is that we will all get to see the new baby and we were talking with Ika that maybe we can go have a portrait done.
My idea is that we would take our mom somewhere to eat on the 25th which is on Tuesday and than have a special evening program in Komorni Lhotka church. Ika please share the idea with everybody that you shared with me. I really like it. After the program we can have food with everyone who wants to stay. I am sure there will be many people from Vojkovice and it could be a nice social event. Martina could bake some beautiful birthday cake.
I think it would be really great if we could keep it a surprise for our mom. At least for now.
What do you all think about staying situation? how many people do you think is too many in our mom's house?
I will end this for now because dishes are waiting for me.
Looking forward to hear from you soon
love you all even you Zigi :)

Annette,
I think I am speaking for everyone, when I say that we understand how it will be with the newborn baby, and we understand that you won't be able to pull your weight around the farm!!! :o)This is exactly why this blog is here, so that we can work all the details out in terms of making this trip as little stressful as possible. Rebekah will have plenty of playmates and I'm sure everyone will be willing to keep an eye on her, should you be out sight, busy with taking care of your new baby. I would be hoping same would apply for all the rest of the children. You can't be everywhere at all times (I know I'm not, and I appreciate that I had so much help this past weekend, and my children came home unharmed) Hopefully it will be a healthy pregnancy and delivery, so that you can enjoy this trip together as a family. I know how I would feel if Johnny couldn't come, or vice versa.
As far as the date, I can say that we are probably the most flexible family of all, as Johnny can take off whenever he wants, if he has early enough notice. However, I strongly agree with the fact that I AM scared of the possible snow situation associated with postponing the trip to December. And most of you are very familiar with the conditions of the road in the area where our mom lives. However, we're willing to do that, if it would be better time for everyone else.
One of the things I wanted to clarify. Is this going to be a surprise type thing? If yes, I want us all to be on the same page as far as keeping it for ourselves. I thought that's what we said at Zuzka's house, but I am not sure it came across in any of these emails or posts.
Another thing, Johnny and I will be staying at a hotel, just so you know up front. I like my comfort as far as hot water, and no waiting line for shower, relaxing and quiet evenings. This will be a vacation for us too. We'll probably be at the house as much as we can, so that mom can enjoy the boys, and we'll definitely help with whatever is needed... So, I'll be looking into the rates for hotels and motels in the area, if anyone else wants to do that, let me know if you want any information on the rates, etc. Also, if you already know info on that, that I don't know yet, please, email me. Thanks.
Love, Ika
P.S. let's work out the date first, so that we all can start making plans. And also!!! How long do you all plan on being there? Should we plan some kind of program for Sabbath afternoon? Zuzka and I already brainstormed some ideas that would make it very memorable for our mom and the church members that know us...

Hey! Yeah, it was great seeing everyone--especially the twins! I had never seen them in person before! I could just stare at Levi drawing all day long--he is SO into that and looks so mature for his age as he thinks intently while drawing.
Regarding doing something for "Maminka" for her 60th, I think it's a fabulous idea and we definitely should do something, if we can. Kamil & I are still talking about this (he's in OK & TX right now and will be back tomorrow and my home phone isn't working very well right now), but I have some concerns about the kind of commitment I will be able to make for this event (I'm thinking that perhaps I could serve as "babysitter", if you'd like.
It looks like Baby #2 would be about 7 or 8 weeks old at the proposed time of this event (Baby's due Sept 21-24), so I think I'll be pretty busy with a newborn, nursing, changing diapers, and looking after Rebekah. I remember by this time with Rebekah I was feeling great, but I didn't have much that I needed to do. I was able to take it slow during the summer as I was home, pretty much alone, with Rebekah while Kamil was working with the teams. I'm afraid to make a commitment regarding how much help or work I can participate in without knowing exactly what it will be like. Also, if, (and I hope not) I should have an emergency C-section, I don't even know if I could make it (probably not). Perhaps Kamil could go alone, though our first choice is to go together. If he went alone, he may want to spend just a short time out there, just enough for the birthday event and a few days extra, since, well, we wouldn't be together and we don't prefer that! He'll have to decide.
Also, I'm wondering if Christmas would be a better time for Zigi & Rachel in terms of getting vacation days to be able to go out to Czech, if we felt we could postpone it one month (though the mental picture I have of snow in Czech and cars getting stuck, etc doesn't sound too easy).
These are some thoughts. Let me know what you all think of what I've shared.

trip
Hey guys,
it was a great visit, we all had fun, but especially boys were having a ball.
As far as the trip, I think is very good idea, and mom would appreciate it. I am not sure though we will be able to go, 'cause it will be very hard to afford it for the whole family. We are not sure, but I might be able to go myself. Also I'd have to make it as a 3-5 days trip, and that's why we couldn't afford it as the whole family.
Let's plan the trip and see how everything is coming up. Keep me updated.
Have a great day eveybody.

Trip
I, too, would like to say, that we had a wonderful time over in Chattanooga this past weekend. Thank You Zuzu again for making us all feel welcomed, and for all the great food!!! It was cute watching all the kids playing together...
Johnny and I discussed the possibility of going to Czech for our mom's Birthday, and he thinks it's a great idea. So, we'd like to be a part of whatever plans will be developing in the coming weeks...
