Hey everyone,
it took me awhile to read all the comments. It has been a long time since I was here. And it is exciting to see all the plans that you are making. After reading all the comments, I have a few to make as well. But first I want to appreciate what especially Zuzu is doing and I think she is doing a great job, therefore we don't need to vote her to be the captain, because she is the captain already. Thank for doing that Zuzu.
A few suggestions.
Reading what you guys wrote, the purpose of the trip is mom's B-day. It is very special milestone in her life and we all will be together first time after so many years. The best we can do is to give an undivided attention to our mom, and I understand that it is a real sacrifice on our part. Yes, we want to see our friends, but I want to encourage everybody who is going, to make it our priority maybe Thurs-Sat night we make sure we spent most of our time with her without visiting other people. It will mean so much to her.
As I said, most likely I'll have to go by myself. And thinking of the dates, I might go for just 3-5 days, maybe little longer. I just realized, it will be a thanksgiving week, so I could take an extra couple of days off, and do some work on my new house. So I am thinking to make it possible a week Fri-Sun Dec 1.
Sabbath suggestion, I know our mom would be so happy if we went Sabbath morning to her home church in KL. I know for fact, we could have a separate room for a Sabbath school. For evening program the choice is open, Vojkovice is probably better choice, but it is all about her, so let's take it into a consideration. Just a little correction, but KL will not be able to hold more then 150 people, and even then it would be sooooo crowded, also has pretty bad ventilation, so to have a program for an hour, with full house, that would be tough. No air to breath, but our mom would probably love it.
Songs, English or Czech? Hmmm I think in respect to our partners, I'd say for most part English, maybe one, or two in Czech, but I'd choose the familiar songs. Remember, we are doing it for her, so choose her favorites. I know we all have many ideas, and that's great, but as Zuzu pointed out, we don't have much time. Also I think 5 min for each family, might be little too long, we can do and say a lot in 3 min. At the same time, no rush, she is 60 only once in a lifetime, so I think we can take all the time we need. And sing as many songs as we feel we want to share with her. People will understand that.
For you information, Tomas Sosna is not part of Rozvoj anymore, I think, he is not selling his equipment yet, but with your permission I'd talk to him about our plans. One gift we can give to our mom would be a CD with our voices. Doesn't matter how good it is, but it is us, and that what matters to her. And we could do something even in one day. Maybe Tomas would be in favor, and we could record something. And for CD, we could do just 10 songs, just us, and pick Czech songs... Just an idea.
I will be happy to stay at the "old house", hehehehe, but I am very flexibile, but so you know, Pepik's room is already taken. Mom sleeps there. There is really nice place, where Renca and Jirka stayed for their wedding night, I think is around 800Kc per room, but it is very, very clean. It is family owned. And they are very friendly, it's a penzion, and has only 4-6 rooms.
Also we need to think what are we going to do for food, and what kind of budget we are looking at. For the Tue supper I can make a few suggestions, I can also take care of the cake. I won't make it, but I can arrange it. If I can be of any help, just let me know.
I think this is enough for now. So in summary, I am thinking to arrive in Czech either on Fri Nov 21, or Wed Nov 26, and flying back On Sun or Mon Dec 1. I will have a car myself.
And whatever we are planning, let's put our mom's shoes on. I know she will be delighted, and hope and pray it will be her happiest B-day ever.
Have a great day. I think I forgot something, but don't remember. So I have to write later.
