Trip

Hey ya'll,

Pretty bad storm down in TN/AR. I was glad to hear Ika and "spol" is OK. You can somewhat prepare for a hurricane, but tornado. . .

Thank you Zuzi for your concern, and NO, our internet is not "down" :) but as you know, it is still crazy around here. It should be all good in 10 days.

There is a lot of discussion going on about the song choices. It is a testament to our mom's prayer. She wanted everyone to be a musician and here we are, all musicians. . . just trying to figure out the songs. . . :)

So, if you don't already feel perplexed which song, let me throw in few more ideas. :)

ENGLISH vs. CZECH
Why don't we do two presentations? One - song in Czech with 2 or 3 in English. And the second all in English. . . Two locations, two programs.

SOUNDTRACKS (ST)
I know, we have a great resource in Tom Sosna. Let's use him, but let's not limit ourselves to him. One presentation can be with ST and the other w/out. OR both presentation with some ST's and some live music.

The reasoning is simple. We have a LOT of memories to some of the songs. If we can't have them with ST we should not dismiss them so easily. Let's use IKA, Tom, Marek, or even I am willing to play and make it simple, but powerful. IT IS ABOUT THE MEMORIES, NOT ABOUT THE WOW FACTOR. :)

Imagine this, what if we all pick a song from our childhood and describe what it meant to us and why we have listen to it over and over. This could be during the concert for our mom. Czech songs that shaped our lives (that would be 7 altogether) with another 3-5 of mom's favorite. Than we have also the "meat" in between that is meaningful, personal and mom would LOVE IT.

Ika, what don't you start a post that is editable, for the list of songs. People mentioned songs in their posts but I already forgot who mentioned what. . . Let's just dedicate one post to that. I agree with Rene, let's put a deadline on it, so we could move on. BUT if you find song that is absolutely "to die for" must, we can always have a live accompany.

Like Kamil, I will make my arrival in harmony with the best interest of this trip.

I also looked at the website of rabaka.cz and they offer a very limited vegetarian cuisine. I spoke to Milan and he said that they had some problems with their chef. I know, that Danny Laufersweiler eats out all the time and if someone would contact him, he could give us some tips. We went out with him to a place on Frydeckem namesti and that restaurant had great vegetarian choices and awesome settings.

I will write some more later.

Zigi
